The SDM01 Smart Energy Monitor is a compact 18mm-wide DIN-rail device for real-time three-phase and multi-branch single-phase monitoring. With three split-core CTs, it precisely measures voltage, current, power, and energy, supporting wired and wireless communication for seamless integration.

Does SDM01 support solar export limiting?

Yes. Among the three SDM01 versions, the BLE + Wi-Fi + RS485 model is specifically optimized for export-limiting applications.

- Wi-Fi (Modbus TCP/UDP) for Balcony PV and ESS
The Wi-Fi interface supports both Modbus TCP and UDP with fast power data reporting, making it well-suited for balcony PV and ESS export limiting scenarios. A one-click API switching feature is also available to ensure seamless compatibility with Shelly 3EM Pro over Modbus TCP or UDP.

- RS485 (Modbus RTU) for Residential PV and ESS
In addition to its own Modbus register list, the SDM01 can follow the register mappings of several popular meters via RS485 Modbus RTU. This enables integration for export limiting or dynamic load balancing with systems using ABB B23, Chint DDSU666 / DDTU666 (MID version), and Eastron SDM230 / SDM630.

How long does it take to ship after placing an order?

Orders are dispatched from our warehouse in Shanghai. Under normal conditions, delivery to most countries worldwide takes around 7–14 days.

We are also in the process of establishing a stock location in Germany, expected to be ready by the end of 2025. Once operational, delivery times to EU countries will be further reduced.

What is the measurement accuracy of SDM01 for power and energy?

The SDM01 provides Class 1 accuracy for both active power and active energy. Every unit is individually calibrated before leaving the factory to ensure reliable measurement performance.

We follow the IEC 61557-12 standard, which defines accuracy requirements for Power Metering and Monitoring Devices (PMDs). How do I set up Wi-Fi for the SDM01 BLE + Wi-Fi + RS485 version?

There are three commissioning methods:

1) Using the BT Powerlink App

You can configure the device via Bluetooth using our official mobile app.

2) Using our Windows configuration tool

Wi-Fi credentials can also be provisioned through BLE using our Windows application.

3) Integrating with your own app

If you prefer to configure the device through your own mobile application, please contact us for the BLE API documentation.

Can I use SDM01 for single-phase application?

Yes. SDM01 can monitor up to three 220–240 VAC single-phase circuits.

For single-phase wiring, tie L1/L2/L3 to the same live L (neutral to N), and place each CT on its respective branch. See the Wiring Diagram for the 1P+N (max 3 circuits) layout.

What are the Modbus RTU differences across the three SDM01 versions?

All three versions support Modbus RTU, but their compatibility ranges differ:

  • SDM01-TWM-* (Tuya Wi-Fi + RS485)

    Only maps the Modbus register addresses of:

    • Chint DDSU666 / DDTU666 (MID version)

    • Eastron SDM230 / SDM630
  • SDM01-EWM-* and SDM01-TZM-*-U01

    In addition to the above meters, they also support the Modbus register mapping of:

    • ABB B23

Important note:

This compatibility is focused on HEMS use cases. Only the key registers for voltage, current, power, and energy are mapped—sufficient for export limiting and dynamic load balancing.
