Product Update: Energy Meters Using Tuya WiFi Module Now Support Bi-Directional Data Export & Email Delivery

Hello to all Tuya ecosystem product users and retailers!

Today, we are pleased to announce a highly anticipated product update: Our energy meters using the Tuya WiFi communication module now fully support bi-directional energy data export and email delivery!

The Past Challenge: Locked-in Energy Data

For a long time, users utilizing energy meters integrated with the basic Tuya WiFi module (standard SoC firmware) faced a common frustration regarding data accessibility.

While you could view your bi-directional energy data in the Smart Life App—specifically through six default charts displaying hourly, daily, and monthly data for both energy consumption (forward) and energy generation (reverse)—you were strictly limited to viewing it on your screen.

Users naturally wanted to export this cloud-based data for deeper analysis, which is essential for more advanced data analytics. However, Tuya previously only offered cloud API solutions for data retrieval. This approach was not only paid but also far too complex for the average DIY user who values plug-and-play simplicity. (In fact, many advanced DIYers facing this complexity would simply opt for our standard Zigbee 3.0 versions to manage data locally at their smart home hubs).

As a result, users relying on the basic WiFi versions were forced to either settle for mobile app viewing or painstakingly record data into spreadsheets by hand just to run a simple analysis.

The Solution: Enter the Tuya "Davidia" Firmware

To solve this pain point, Tuya introduced a new communication module firmware known as the "Davidia" version in late 2025. We have fully integrated this upgrade into our Tuya WiFi product line, meaning users of our Tuya WiFi-enabled energy meters can now effortlessly export their data and send it directly to their email via the app!

The Key Differences: Davidia Version vs. Basic Version

1. Powerful New Features

  • One-Click Data Export: We’ve added the much-requested functionality to export your historical bi-directional energy data and send it directly via email in a convenient spreadsheet format.
  • Per-Phase Data Support (For 3-Phase Models): This is a game-changer for households and commercial setups with 3-phase electrical systems. Users can now export and email historical data for each individual phase independently, allowing for precise load balancing and monitoring.

2. Technical & UI Enhancements

  • Optimized Firmware: The Davidia version utilizes specific, upgraded communication module firmware and PIDs from Tuya.
  • Revamped User Interface: The most noticeable difference for end-users is the upgraded App interface layout. The Davidia version features a completely redesigned Historical Chart Page and introduces a brand-new Data Export Page (which was previously unavailable in the Basic version).
